What’s Happening
NASA Federal Credit Union substantially increased the rates on its 9-, 15-, and 49-months Share Certificates to rate-leading or near rate-leading levels. NASA FCU changes rates the first of the month, so these new competitive rates should be around for a while.
After seeing all the “red” in yesterday’s Brokered CD Rates Summary, I anticipated a large number of rate decreases in this week’s CD Rates Summary, but there were only two rate drops. As the odds of Fed rate cut(s) increase, Treasury yields and Brokered CD yields seem to be responding quickly, while Direct CD yields (especially at credit unions) are suggesting a slower reaction.
